This course prepares practitioners to work in defined areas of community public health practice, for registration as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) - School Nurse.

Course accreditations

This course is approved by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) which means upon successful completion of the course you will have achieved the NMC ‘Standards of Proficiency for Specialist Community Public Health Nurses’ (2022) in the field of School Nursing and can then register your Specialist Community Public Health Nurse award with the NMC. This should be registered within five years of completion of the programme.

Entry requirements

A Bachelors Honours degree with 2:2 in any subject. Part One or Part Two registration on the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) register. A training contract or secondment from a 0-19 years' service provider/NHS employer, or if self-funding – confirmation that the proposed 0-19 years public health practice provider can, and will, support practice learning. If English is not your first language you'll need IELTS 7.0 (Academic) with a mininum of 7.0 in listening and reading, with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and speaking.
