About Postgraduate Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists are an important part of non-invasive healthcare. They focus on helping people to recover from injuries and illnesses through physical methods like exercise and stretching, either instead of, or following medication or surgery. Physiotherapists treat people of all ages and demographics, working in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, care homes, private residences and competitive sports centres.

In the UK, physiotherapy is a popular degree programme with a lot of options for those with a master’s level qualification. In London alone, you’ll find 10 institutions which offer a combined number of 25 courses, offering several different specialisms such as sports and exercise, musculoskeletal, paediatrics, and neurological rehabilitation.

What to expect

Studying a master’s degree in psychology in London offers a dynamic and hands-on educational experience. You’ll engage with coursework, clinical training, and improve your research, leadership and management skills while developing a holistic, person-centred approach.

You’ll study a one-year full-time course, or a two-year part-time course, and most programmes often include a practical placement component where you’ll work under supervision in various healthcare settings, providing real-world applications for your new theoretical knowledge.

Physiotherapy professional practices are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and after completing your course, you can apply for chartered status with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). The CSP has over 60,000 members working professionally in the UK.
