Abstract/Biography
Sarah Higginson works as a fire engineer for Arup in the Sydney Office. She is a Masters Graduate from the University of Edinburgh and completed her degree in Structural and Fire Safety Engineering in 2012. During her time at work, Sarah has been involved with numerous different projects including, retail, residential, commercial office, rail, health infrastructure and sports facilities. Sarah is a passionate advocate of Fire Engineering as a way pushing boundaries of design. Sarah’s talk will focus on the transition between university to life as a typical consulting fire engineer, and the difficulties, challenges and experiences that are involved with this transition. The presentation will also discuss one of industry’s fundamental questions – what makes a competent fire engineer?
