Last Tuesday 11th of March, in the Advanced Engineering Building of the University of Queensland, the UQ-SFPE Student chapter hosted its first activity of 2017. The new directive board together with Professor Jose Torero welcomed new student members and kicked-off the series of activities planned for this year. Guest speaker Dwayne Jones (AECOM Brisbane office Principal Engineer) shared his experience as a fire protection engineer and gave a very interesting talk on how to make the transition from the student environment to private engineering practice.
After Dwayne’s presentation, attendees including students, lecturers and alumni were able to engage personally with him and with other colleagues over drinks and snacks. UQ-SFPE will timely announce the upcoming sessions and invites other members of the fire engineering community to join free of charge.
If you are interested in joining, or have any questions, we will be more than happy to hear from you! Contact Angela Solarte or Aaron Bolanos.
