SFPE Seminar #3: Chemical Fires

The SFPE Student Chapter at UQ Fire hosted a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) lecture co-organized by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).

The guest presenter, Dr. Michael Logan, Director of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Research and Scientific Branch, shared about Chemical Fires, their behavior and impacts and his experience in site management and suppression strategies in these hazardous emergencies.

After Dr. Logan’s presentation, SFPE and IFE members were able to engage personally with him and with other colleagues over morning tea provided by IFE, which enabled networking and interesting discussions. We glad to have attendance for various students from UQ -School of Civil Engineering, Industry professionals, and QFES.

We want to thank Dr. Logan for sharing his knowledge and experience in this field and Mick Conway for helping co-organizing this event.
