On December 5, UQ Fire had the privilege to attend the 2017 Fire Awareness Awards held in Melbourne.
The project ‘Fire Safety Engineering in Timber Buildings’ led by Lend Lease and supported by UQ Fire and CSIRO was nominated finalist for the Innovation Award, which was eventually granted to the project ‘Upper Ferntree Gully CFA Local Preparedness Videos’ led by the Upper Ferntree Gully Fire Brigade.
The Fire Awareness Awards recognise and celebrate communities for their fire prevention, protection and recovery activities. The project presented by UQ and our partners Lend Lease and CSIRO is devoted to promoting the fire safe use of timber construction in Australia, supported by our current research activities within the Centre for Future of Timber Structures and the ARC Future Timber Hub.
We would like to thank the organisation for inviting us to this fantastic event.
