We would like to officially welcome Dr Martyn S. McLaggan to the Fire Safety Engineering Research Group at The University of Queensland. Martyn joins UQ Fire as the Research Fellow to co-lead the research on combustible cladding and fire performance of building facades.
Martyn comes from the Danish Institute of Fire & Security Technology (DBI) and Lund University, where he held an Industrial Postdoctoral Fellowship focused on the development of an experimental method for assessing façades, and additionally worked as a Research Consultant on a variety of topics. His research has predominantly focused on the design of buildings, particularly those involving modern architecture with innovative materials.
Martyn has a PhD in Fire Safety Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, and
specialises in a number of topics including material behaviour, fire dynamics, smouldering, and structural fire engineering.
