We wanted to welcome all UQ students into the new academic year. Fire courses have received a growing attention in the number of requests for information about the course. If you are a 3rd year or 4th year Engineering student, below is some information that might be of interest to you.

Introduction to Fire Safety Engineering (FIRE3700)
This course provides an introduction to fire safety engineering and science. The focus of the course is to establish the knowledge and rationale followed when bringing safety into the design process. This course includes guests lectures from world renown Dr Marianne Foley (Arup) and from Michael Conway, engineer with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services. Fire Engineering Design: Solutions for Implicit Safety (FIRE4610)
This project-based course aims to enable students to apply engineering principles in prescriptive implementation of fire safety engineering solutions. This course aims to provide students with skills and knowledge to use codes and standards to deliver a “Deem To Satisfy” building. This course includes intense group work, oral presentations, and site visit to an iconic building in Brisbane’s CBD. Email course coordinator for further information.
