5th Iberian-Latin American Congress on Fire Safety (Portugal)

The Fifth Iberian-Latin American Congress on Fire Safety (5CILASCI), organized by the Luso-Brasileira Association for Fire Safety (ALBRASCI), was held in July 2019 in the City of Porto, Portugal. UQ Fire was represented there by Angela Solarte, Pascale Vacca and Aaron Bolanos, who shared their work on the fire behaviour of alternative construction and isolative materials.

Angela’s talk introduced part of her PhD research on self-extinguishment of laminated bamboo; while Pascale presented the results of her Master’s thesis developed at The University of Queensland and Aaron gave a summary of his findings on the fire performance of Structural Insulated Panels in bending.

Delegates from the University of Queensland and Peter Johnson (ARUP – left), friend and collaborator of UQ Fire.

The congress gave an excellent opportunity to integrate fire researchers not only from ibero-america, but also from all over the world. Our delegates would like to thank the organising committee, led by Prof Paulo Piloto, for a flawless and very productive activity.

More information on the congress may be found here.
